Willard Denney

Willard E. Denney, age 84, of New Castle, passed away Tuesday, October 06, 2009, at Henry County Hospital. He was born March 1, 1925 in Monticello, Kentucky to the late Harrison and Bina (Frost) Denney.

He retired from Chrysler Corporation following 31 years of service. Willard served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1941 and also served in the United States Army from 1943-1946, during World War II. He was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church for 47 years, was a Past Master of Spiceland Masonic Lodge #699 and the Order of Eastern Star. Willard enjoyed fishing, camping and hanging out with his wife and best friend whom he married May 4, 1946.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years: Mildred Jean (Piercy) Denney of New Castle; a daughter: Kathy (husband: John) Rogers of New Castle; a son: Dennis (wife: Brenda) Denney of Shirley; a grandson: John David Rogers of CA; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert, Willis and Cecil Denney; a sister: Effie Neal.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Lynn Furrow officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and VFW. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the funeral home where Masonic Rites will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
