Willard Gregory, 85, of New Castle died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Henry County Hospital. He was born July 30, 1925 in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Harvey and Martha Ann (Dobbs) Gregory.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in Iwo Jima, Okinawa and the South Pacific during World War II. He retired as vice-president of the International Division of Modernfold. Willard was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had also attended Charity Baptist Church. He had been a member of the New Castle Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed reading and drafting. He served on the board of directors for Indianapolis International Airport and was a pilot.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years: Joyce (McWhorter) Gregory whom he married September 12, 1947; three children: Patricia Herbert of New Castle, Lisa Neal of Greenwood and Jeffry Gregory of New Castle; two grandchildren: Alan Huddleson of Florida and Laura Cooper of Indianapolis; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers: Hobert, Clifford, Eathel and Lloyd Gregory; four sisters: Mary Lou Phipps, Pearl Denny, Idell Baldock and Stella Bryant.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Tim York officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens.
