William “Bill” Gary Gardner, 82, lifelong resident of Spiceland passed away Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Henry Community Health. He was born January 22, 1940 in New Castle to the late Robert Paul and Helen (Garris) Gardner.
Bill was a 1958 graduate of Spiceland High School and joined the US Army following. He was a lifelong farmer. In his earlier years, he enjoyed drag racing. But most recently, he was an avid outdoorsman and loved trapping, deer and mushroom hunting. He also was an avid NASCAR fan.
Bill is survived by his wife of 19 years, Carla S. Gardner; children, Richie (Leigh) Gardner, William Gardner (Lisa Lloyd), Christina Gardner (Doug Brown “Brownie”); step children, Natalie Redd, Christopher (Hayley) Flynn; brother, James R. Gardner; grandchildren, Shelby Reno, Dylan Gorman, Chase Gardner; step grandchildren, Carly Redd, Ben Redd, Hayley May Flynn, Annabella Flynn, Alexandria Flynn; great grandchildren, Maddux and Peyton Reno; nieces, Rita (Bob) McCallister, Lisa Gardner, Lori Gardner; and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant twin brother, Melvin Gardner; and nephew, Michael Gardner.
Services will be at 7:00 PM Friday, August 26, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until time of service. Military honors will be conducted by contingents from the Knightstown American Legion and US Army.
