William "Billy" Donal Teel II

William “Billy” Donal Teel II, 64 of Anderson and formerly of New Castle passed away unexpectedly Sunday, September 4, 2022 at his residence. He was born April 30, 1958 in New Castle to the late William D. and Georgia L. (Fannin) Teel.

Billy was a 1976 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School where he played varsity baseball. He attended Indiana University for Accounting for one year before deciding he’d rather work outdoors. He then started a summer mowing job through Public Service and in the early 1980’s, he did his apprenticeship with Public Service and later became the electrician for the town of Centerville. Billy moved to Anderson in 1986 with his wife, Susan, and became a foreman journeyman lineman for Anderson Light and Power for 31 years before retiring in 2017. When a natural disaster hit somewhere, he was always the first to volunteer he and his crew to assist the storm relief and get power restored. He would work until the job was done. He enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in North Vernon. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, loved being outdoors and to his friends was known as the “Wildman”. On a summer’s night, he enjoyed sitting in his barn listening to good music and having a cold beer. In his earlier years, Billy enjoyed playing softball for the Ice House team, bowling and family camping trips. Billy was a true family man: a wonderful husband, father, granddaddy, provider, and friend. He would help anyone in need and will be missed by all. In December of 2021, he became a double lung transplant recipient.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan Teel; daughters, Brooke (D.J.) Morgan, Chelsea (Jordan) Caulk; grandchildren, Olivia Morgan, Carrigan and Juniper Caulk; sisters, Cindy (Don) Bennett and Lindy (Marvin) Gomillion; mother-in-law, Janet Garrard; sister-in-law, Diane (Darren) Coy, and many friends and his “other family” at Anderson Light and Power.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Becky Smith and Alice Vores; and father in law, Robert E. Garrard.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2022 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Pastor Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow at South Mound Cemetery-West Lawn Addition. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
