William M. “Kinley” McMahan, 95, of Carthage, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014 at IU Health Methodist Hospital. He was born June 16, 1919 in Olive Hill, Kentucky, a son of the late Charles Bourbon and Margaret Liza (Bailey) McMahan.
He began working at Smurfit Stone in Carthage in 1947 and retired from there after many years of service. He also rebuilt fence and installed new fence. He enjoyed mowing his yard and loved country music. He was a member of the Upper Tygart Baptist Church in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife: Judy K. (McIntosh) McMahan of Carthage; children: Walter (Kay) McMahan of Carthage, William Clyde (Nancy) McMahan of Southport, Homer Earl (Diane) McMahan of Sparta, TN, Edward (Sarah) McMahan of Vanceburg, KY; 7 grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; step children: Sherry Rucker (John) Foust of Bloomington, Lauralee Rucker of Denver, CO; Edward Earl (Lisa) Rucker, Jr. of Muncie; 12 step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Odalean Logan McMahan; three sisters: Virgie Lee “Myrtle” McMahan Logan, Annabelle Logan and Arkansas McMahan; brother: Homer McMahan.
