William T. Paul, age 81, of New Castle, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012 at his residence. He was born November 29, 1930 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Ivan H. and Bernice (McSherley) Paul.
He was a graduate of New Castle High School Class of 1949 and had also attended Purdue University where he participated in ROTC. Bill was co-owner of Newby Paul Motor Company for 30 years and later was a salesman for Creveling Dodge in Corpus Christi, Texas. He enjoyed auto sales for over 50 years. He was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church where he served as Elder Emeritus, board member and Chancel Choir. He was also a former member of Kiwanis and the American Legion. Bill served in the United States Army Reserves for nine years as a Staff Sergeant. He enjoyed antiquing, gardening and most of all spending time with his family, as well as spending several years visiting the Gulf of Mexico.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Joan Thompson Paul of New Castle; a daughter, Lizabeth A. (husband, Mark) Curtis of Indianapolis; a son, Byron T. (wife, Jo Elaina) Paul of Cambridge City; daughter-in-law, Patty Paul of Indianapolis; grandsons, Jeffrey E. (wife, Dawn) Widner, Matthew S. (wife, Sarah) Widner, and Ethan T. Paul, US Marine Corp; granddaughters, Heather (husband, Wesley) Wilburn, Lara Paul and Grace E. Paul; great grandson, Masyn Wilburn; great granddaughter, Sadie Beth Widner; step grandchildren, Lacey Johnson (fiancé, Josh Hines) and Bart Johnson and Jenette Best; sister, Jacqueline (husband, Robert) Hounchell of TX; brother, Andrew (wife, Elaine) Paul of FL; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph H. Paul; granddaughter, Melissa Widner; brothers, John Paul and David Paul.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at the First Christian Church in New Castle. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the fellowship room. Burial will be in Glen Cove Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012.
