William H Ruback

April 21, 1939 — February 7, 2014

William H. Ruback, 74, of New Castle, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at Reid Hospital in Richmond. He was born April 21, 1939 in Rockford, IL the son of the late Harold and Janice (Minett) Ruback.

William retired from Chrysler Corporation after 33 years in Human Resources as Personnel Manager. He was an active volunteer serving on numerous boards for many years in the Henry County and State communities. He was a founding member of the Henry County United Fund in which he remained active for over 20 years receiving the Danielson Humanitarian Award. Wil was Henry County Citizen of the Year and recognized by the Indiana Association of United Ways as Volunteer of the Year. He received the Indiana Governor's Voluntary Action Community Service Award and was nominated by the State for the U.S. President's Volunteer Action Award. Beyond Wil's many awards, he felt his greatest accomplishment by far was raising three wonderful daughters. He took his last breath surrounded by family and after 25 years was reunited in heaven with his beloved daughter, Tiffany.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years: Judith Ruback of New Castle; daughters: Melissa (Jamie) Hayden of Bargersville, and Sara Ruback-Calac (Lance) of Palm Springs, CA; granddaughters: Alexandra Tiffany Hayden, Elizabeth Tiffany Hayden and Cassidy Tiffany Calac and a loving extended family in Rockford, IL.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Christ United Methodist Church in Westfield with Pastor Tom Beatley officiating. Private burial will take place in Summit Lawn Cemetery in Westfield at a later date. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2014 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Christ United Methodist Church in Westfield. Military rites will be conducted by an active duty contingent from the United States Air Force and local American Legion.
