William "Guy" Showalter, Jr.

William “Guy” Showalter, Jr. 67, of New Castle, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at his home.   He was born on September 8, 1956 in New Castle to the late William Guy Showalter, Sr. and Beatrice Joyce (Sandlin) Showalter-Riggs.

Guy was a member of the Eagles and Greensboro Methodist Church.  He was employed for many years as a skilled machine repairman, sometimes even traveling out of the country for work.  Known as a true handyman, he was always ready to fix or work on anything. His legacy will be remembered for his kind and giving heart and dedication to lending a helping hand whenever it was needed. Guy loved to fish, hunt, ride his Harley and work on the farm. In earlier years, he loved racing at Mt. Lawn Speedway and several other racetracks. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, as it brings him great joy as well as his furry companion, Emilee. 

Survivors include wife and best friend, Donna M. Showalter; children, Angela Showalter, Brooke Showalter, Lucus (Abi) Wright and Amber Wright; grandchildren, Ryan (Katie) Cowan, Charlie Wright, Lucy Wright, Rosie Wright; great grandchildren, Gracie and James Cowan; siblings, Jeanette Showalter Stewart, Cindi Sare, Joe Riggs, Julie Reynolds and Renee Brown; mother-in-law, Ida Reynolds; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, siblings, John Showalter and Dori Riggs; niece, Brandy Blackburn.

Services will be held at 5:30pm on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Donnie Pyle officiating.  Burial will be at Hicksite Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be from 2:00pm until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.  The family is requesting casual, joyful attire to be worn at the visitation and service.  Memorial contributions can be made to Greensboro Methodist Church, PO Box 24, Greensboro, IN 47344.  You may express condolences or share a memory of Guy at www.hinsey-brown.com.
