William “Sammie” Samuel Winchester, 86, of Lawrence, passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 at Kindred Hospital. He was born February 13, 1925 in Monticello, Kentucky, a son of the late Samuel and Molly (Groce) Winchester.
He was retired from Ford Motor Company after many years as an auto mechanic. He enjoyed hunting and carpentry work. He was a veteran in the Army Air Forces during World War II.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 42 years, Loyce (Stailey) Winchester of Lawrence, IN; 5 sons; 1 daughter; 1 step daughter; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; 1 brother and 3 sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastor Tom McGilliard officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the local American Legion and VFW.
