Wilma Meikamp, 84 of Kennard passed away Thursday, June 6, 2013 at I. U. Health Center in Indianapolis. She was born May 25, 1929 in Kennard, Indiana a daughter of the late Charles and Mary (O’Dell) Drysdale.
Wilma was a 1947 graduate of Kennard High School. She graduated from Warner’s Beauty Academy in Ft. Wayne, was a master beautician and operated her own beauty salon for 18 years out of her home. She was a member of the Kennard Christian Church and New Castle Order of Eastern Star #116. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and flowers. Wilma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was compassionate and enjoyed helping others, always putting others first, especially her family.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, who she married December 22, 1951: Arlin “Steve” Meikamp of Kennard; daughter: Dr. Joyce Meikamp of South Charleston, West Virginia; son: Thomas A. Meikamp of Kennard; granddaughter: Michelle (husband, Ben) Walters of New Castle; great grandchildren: Blake and Callie Walters, both of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother: J.C. Drysdale.
Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Marion McFarland officiating.
